ORAL PROFICIENCY TESTING

Do you have bilingual employees interested in providing interpreting services at your site? Assess their skills with the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).

OPI is a valid, reliable, and industry-recognized means of assessing how well a person speaks a language; in fact, it is one of the methods that Metaphrasis uses to test their own interpreters. OPI includes a 20-30 minute telephone interview between a certified tester and the examinee. The interview is interactive and continuously adapts to the interests and abilities of the speaker.

The OPI is a pre-requisite for the Metaphrasis Medical Interpreter Training, so consider bringing us in to administer the OPI assessment at your site. OPI results are valid for one year and can be used to apply for national certification.
